Serie A awards: Quagliarella named league’s best striker this season

Fabio Quaglirella has been recognised as the best forward in the league this season.

Starting this year, Serie A has introduced awards for the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and attacker in the campaign just finished. The Blucerchiati captain will receive his award before kick-off in the last home match of the year, tomorrow against Juventus.

The winner of each category was decided based on statistics from STATS and OPTA, as well as tracking data from Netco Sports. Fixtures from Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Super Cup was taken into consideration.

Each winner will have the right wear a special badge on their shirts next season, recognising their feats from the year before.

Best goalkeeper: Samir Handanovic (Internazionale)
Best defender: Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)
Best midfielder: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio)
Best forward: Fabio Quagliarella (Sampdoria)
