Viviano hard at work: Samp’s keeper eyeing a swift return

The strength of his character was never in question, but this summer Emiliano Viviano has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

The Blucerchiati keeper has been hard at work incessantly to get back to full fitness in as short a time as possible after his knee operation at the end of last season.

The road to recovery started in Domodossola with injury specialist Umberto Borino before the pair continued their progress in Bogliasco. Viviano has now joined up with the squad on their pre-season training camp in Ponte di Legno, where his recovery programme has included work in the gym, swimming pool and sand pit as well as on the bicycle.

Now, under goalkeeping coach Andrea Sardini’s supervision, he’s making his first ginger steps back into active training on the pitch.

Samp TV caught up with Viviano to find out how things were going.
