Euro qualifiers: Ekdal starts as Sweden stick four past Malta

Albin Ekdal was part of the Sweden side who beat Malta 4-0 in their European Championship qualifier in Ta’ Qali on Saturday evening.

The result means Sweden move up to second place in Group F on 14 points, five shy of leaders Spain, who visit Solne on Tuesday.

Danielson gave Sweden the lead in Malta on 11 minutes, before Larsson scored from the spot on 58 minutes. Ekdal came off for Svensson just after the hour mark, with an Agius own-goal extending Sweden’s lead soon after. Another Larsson penalty on 71 minutes completed the 4-0 win.
