International watch: all smiles for Bereszynski and Damsgaard

Here are the results from the matches involving Sampdoria players who are currently on international duty:

Denmark. The clash between Mikkel Damsgaard and Albin Ekdal – with the latter on the bench for the whole game – went the way of the Dane. The winger, who started on his first call-up for the senior Denmark team and played the full 90 minutes, contributed to the 2-0 win (Wind 61, Bah 74) over Sweden with an assist for the second goal.

Gambia. Omar Colley’s Gambia side fell to a 2-1 defeat (Bouanga 7, Aubameyang 55, Jobe 81) away to Gabon in Franceville in group D as part of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The defender started the game and played the full 90 minutes.

Norway. Following a positive COVID-19 test result in the Israel ranks yesterday, the friendly in Oslo between Morten Thorsby’s Norway and Israel was postponed.

Poland. Bartosz Bereszynski’s Poland also had reason to celebrate. The midfielder started on the bench before coming on in the 78th minute to replace Robert Gumny in the 2-0 win over Ukraine in Chorzow (Piatek 40, Moder 63).

Czech Republic. Jakub Jankto and the Czech Republic fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Germany in Leipzig (Waldschmidt 13). After watching on from the dugout in the first half, the midfielder was brought on during the interval for the second 45 minutes.

Slovenia U21. Nik Prelec started on the bench as Slovenia U21s drew 1-1 with Germany U21s in Braunschweig.
