Muriel promises the fans: “I’ll score more to hear my chant again”
Luis Muriel is fast becoming the leader of this new-look, youthful Sampdoria side.
The Colombian seems to have matured and, coupled with his unquestionable natural talent, this means he’s got all the ingredients in place to be the darling of the Gradinata Sud. Almost by way of confirming his new status, the travelling support dedicated a chant solely to the Blucerchiati striker.
“I’m happy the fans stood up to sing for me,” declared the author of Doria’s first goal of the season. “I didn’t expect it. I want to repay them with bags of goals so I can hear this chant every Sunday.”
Speaking about the game as a whole, Muriel had this to say to Samp TV: “It’s not easy to come here and win. We had loads of clear chances to double our advantage but couldn’t get the ball in the net.
“We did everything to protect our lead and not concede an equaliser; this is very important.”
