Eder is looking to the future: “The past is behind us, now let’s go forward with confidence”

Two goals in the space of a few minutes. Eder Citadin Martins has showed once again that he has a special relationship with the crowd at the Marassi, scoring two in front of them at the first time of asking this evening.

After the game, the Brazilian-born Italy striker stopped in the mixed-zone to speak with the media: “We have already forgotten about the Europa League. The past is behind us and there’s nothing we can do about that now. We prepared well for the start of Serie A and we’ve got off to a great start.

“It’s always a pleasure to get on the scoresheet and I’m happy about that, but I’m more pleased that the whole team played well. We started to play keep-ball when it was 5-1, without pushing too much, and they started to come back into the game. They did well in the second half but the match was already over by then.

“As for my partnership with Luis Muriel, it’s important to remember that we’re not the only two players at Sampdoria. There are many excellent players in this squad.”
