Eder: “Decent point, the league is tight”

They say that being captain places extra weight on your shoulders. Eder Citadin Martins had already had a taste of that, taking over the armband mid-game. But against Chievo at the Bentegodi, he led the team out from the tunnel for the first time, with the pennant in his hand and a ‘C’ on his arm. Any thoughts that the added pressure might get to him were banished eight minutes into the game when he coolly fired home the opener.

“We wanted our first away win of the season and we took the lead nice and early,” the No.23 said after the game. “We might have doubled our lead in the first half while in the second we struggled a bit more. We need to improve on certain things but overall we did well today against a well-organised side.”
