Quagliarella’s penalty and Verre’s magic see off Fiorentina

Sampdoria bounced back from their opening two defeats with an excellent away win at Fiorentina courtesy of Fabio Quagliarella’s penalty conversion and a sublime winner from Valerio Verre.

The Blucerchiati’s first three points of the campaign were no less than they deserved having fought tooth and nail at the Stadio Franchi, where they twice hit the woodwork and saw two goals disallowed, although Federico Chiesa almost snatched a point for the hosts when he struck the post with virtually the last kick of the game.
