Giampaolo reacts to Marassi bow: “Fantastic fans, this win boosts our morale”

Marco Giampaolo lauded the Sampdoria fans after they roared his Doria side to a 3-0 Coppa Italia win over Bassano Virtus on Sunday evening.

“Seeing so many people at the stadium the day before Ferragosto is amazing,” the Blucerchiati boss told Samp TV. “They gave us fantastic support. The crowd drove us forward and the lads felt that right from the off.”

And while the Doria faithful did their job in the stands, Giampaolo was delighted with the work his side got through on the pitch.

“The team did exactly what I wanted. We showed real intensity, though we could have been better in the last 20 minutes. That said, we’ll take a lot from the game and at the end of the day the most important thing was to get through to the next round.

“A 3-0 win is always a good morale booster. Empoli won’t be an easy game, but results breed results,” said the coach.
