Giampaolo delighted with debut win: “The lads had a fantastic game”

Marco Giampaolo was full of praise for his Sampdoria side after they defeated Empoli 1-0 at the Stadio Castellani to get their Serie A campaign off to the perfect start on Sunday night.

“It wasn’t an easy match,” Giampaolo told Samp TV after the game. “We did well to play the game the way we’d planned and prepared for. We’re at the start of a journey, with a squad full of young players. Our strengths are our willingness, our enthusiasm and our desire. We left every drop of sweat on the pitch tonight.”
