Muriel revels in unlikely header: “Lovely goal, nothing more than we deserved”

Luis Muriel has expressed his delight at scoring a wonderful headed goal to hand Sampdoria a richly deserved point at Fiorentina on Sunday evening.

“It was lovely to score a goal like that,” said the Colombian after the final whistle. “The cross was perfect – all I had to do was follow the movement of the ball and guide it home.”

Muriel insisted that the Blucerchiati could easily have been celebrating three points instead of one at the Franchi.

“We could even have won it tonight, but we struggled in the first half to build our play. We deserved more on the basis of our second-half performance because we created so much.”

Last but not least, the Doria striker called for Sampdoria to continue their excellent form after the international break.

“When we come back from international duty, we have a big run of games and we need to stay focused and win as many of them as possible,” declared Muriel.
