Football Data: The inside track on Atalanta v Sampdoria

Ahead of Sampdoria’s trip to Atalanta on Sunday, we bring you some facts and figures from the leading Italian statistics agency on national and international football.

Samp’s four-game goal drought. A Blucerchiati player hasn’t found the back of the net in four competitive fixtures, since Patrik Schick struck late on in the 2-1 loss to Chievo Verona on 18 December. Two 0-0 draws at home followed before a 2-1 defeat away to Napoli (where Elseid Hysaj turned one into his own net) and Thursday’s 4-0 loss in the cup against Roma.

Blucerchiati strikers continue to struggle in front of goal. Only five players have got on the score sheet for Sampdoria this season, the lowest figure in the league after 20 games. Edgar Barreto, Bruno Fernandes, Luis Muriel, Fabio Quagliarella and Schick have shared the scoring duties between them.

But the situation is brighter from the bench. Sampdoria join Roma and Napoli at the top of the rankings for goals scored by substitutes with six: Schick and Fernandes have three each.
