Giampaolo hails performance of the season

Sunday afternoon’s win against Roma ranks as Sampdoria’s best game of the season, ahead of the derby victory and those over Sassuolo and Torino.

Speaking to Samp TV after the Blucerchiati’s 3-2 win, the boss said: “Today our performance was perfect.”

“Football is by no means an exact science and we showed today once again that all you can do is work day in day out and apply yourself. This is another building block for us.”

Giampaolo was also keen to underline the role played by the home fans.

“Our supporters stayed with us, just as they always do. I told the guys that we needed to ride that wave of support.”

“I loved the way we played, including the way we went about our business when the intensity dropped. It’s not just the result we hold dear, but also the display, because it was magnificent.”
