Giampaolo orders Samp to disregard the form book ahead of Bologna game
Marco Giampaolo has warned his troops they should not let recent results cloud their judgement when they entertain Bologna in Marassi on Sunday evening.
The Blucerchiati are on a roll after recording back-to-back victories over Roma and AC Milan while Bologna arrive at the Stadio Ferraris having slipped to successive home defeats against Napoli and AC Milan.
Nonetheless, the boss is adamant that such contrasting fortunes should not lull his players into a false sense of security.
“This will be no easy game,” Giampaolo stressed at a media conference on Saturday. “Bologna suffered a heavy defeat against Napoli but certain teams can easily put five or six past you if things go wrong.
“Bologna lost right at the death to AC Milan in midweek but it was a game they could easily have won. I expect they’ll be even more on their toes tomorrow as a result.
“As for us, we go into this match after beating two top teams but if we start feeling full of ourselves and take things lightly we’ll come a cropper.
“If we start getting cocky, we could well end up losing this game. If, on the other hand, we go into it with the same determined attitude our opponents are going to have then we can play well and win it.”
