Training camp day one: Giampaolo and his staff mean business

There was no messing about on the opening day of the Sampdoria training camp as the players got to work on pre-season in the sunshine at Temù sports ground.

Marco Giampaolo and his staff put the players through a double session on tactics, first with the defenders before moving onto the midfielders and forwards. Deep-lying playmakers Leonardo Capezzi and Lucas Torreira worked harder than most as they took part in both morning sessions.

After lunch, while the team waited for Dawid Kownacki to arrive in Ponte di Legno, the focus switched to fitness work. The players alternated between hurdles and shuttle runs and high-intensity rondos.

Emiliano Viviano continued his comeback trail on the pitch with goalkeeping coach Andrea Sardini. Nicola Murri, meanwhile, had treatment. The players will train twice again tomorrow.
