Alvarez, Djuricic and Kownacki hand the Blucerchiati 3-0 scoreline over Cremonese

Sampdoria defeated Cremonese 3-0 this evening in the third and final pre-season friendly in Temu.

Although the opposition play in the league below, they put in a battling performance and certainly gave the Blucerchiati a good test. For Marco Giampaolo, the work continues but all the signs so far have been good and suggest a positive season ahead.

Christian Puggioni had to be reactive to punch away a free-kick from Alberto Almici in the second minute, but then Samp settled into the game and looked comfortable in defence.

Cremonese came back into the contest as half-time was approaching, but a timely Doria goal deflated their confidence. Ricky Alvarez advanced forward midway inside their half, exchanged passes with Gianluca Caprari and shot into the corner.

Half-time prompted a raft of changes from Attilio Tesser and Marco Giampaolo, but the flow of the match continued in much the same way.

The Blucerchiati doubled their advantage 17 minutes into the second half, when Filip Djuricic was released by Dawid Kownacki and shot under the keeper.

The Polish striker turned finisher ten minutes later when he volleyed home on the turn after Dennis Praet had picked him out.
