Giampaolo wants Doria to “consolidate” their league position against Chievo
In the last match of a run of three games in just eight days, Sampdoria take on ChievoVerona tomorrow at the Marassi.
Speaking at the pre-match news conference, Marco Giampaolo was sure to underline how tough a task his side faces.
“It will be difficult like every game, but unique given who we are up against,” the Doria boss said.
“Chievo are a savvy side, with notable offensive qualities. They are able to dig in and manage moments in a game.
“It’s a crucial game for us to consolidate our good position in the league table, behind the big sides, and to give ourselves greater conviction, one game at a time.”
A victory for the Blucerchiati would constitute a club record, set by the famous Scudetto-winning side.
“This is another stimulus for us, to write another chapter in the glorious history of the club,” Giampaolo said.
“We’ll talk about this kind of thing after the game, firstly we need to overcome a tough opponent, which right now is on our level.”
