Quagliarella makes history: “I can’t describe this feeling”
After scoring his first goal in the Derby della Lanterna, in what proved to be Sampdoria’s one hundredth win in the cross-town rivalry, Fabio Quagliarella can be sure to have written his name in the history books.
Captain on the night, the striker made a decisive contribution, capping a match he will surely never forget.
“The feeling of sticking the ball away, right in front of the south stand… I can’t describe it,” he said, speaking to Samp TV after the match.
“It’s hard to process what’s happened, to put everything into focus. Duvan Zapata’s pass? It was easy, he was repaying me for when I set him up last week.”
As for the Blucerchiati support, the Doria frontman underlined the team’s gratitude.
“We thank them endlessly. They never stopped singing. From yesterday when they came to see us in front of the hotel.
“As the boss says, they are our twelfth man out there on the pitch.
“We’re doing really well, but it’s only November. We need to keep working, with the same mentality we’ve shown until now, and correct our mistakes. Then we’ll see where we can go.”
