Ramirez: “I pass the ball, Quagliarella sticks it away”
Fabio Quagliarella might have stolen the headlines with his hat-trick against Fiorentina, but Gaston Ramirez’s performance at Marassi on Sunday afternoon was no less impressive.
The Uruguayan racked up a stunning three assists for his team-mate, taking him to seven for the season – just one behind league leader Antonio Candreva.
“You need someone to score goals if you’re going to get assists,” said the Doria No.90 after the game. “I don’t have a favourite – the important thing is that they all helped us score. If you make a good pass, you can be sure that Quagliarella is going to score 90% of the time.”
Ramirez has struck up a fine partnership with Quagliarella, who now has 15 Serie A goals for the season.
“Fabio is fantastic,” admitted the Uruguayan. “It’s almost impossible to define him. We’re enjoying the pressure of being in the Europa League race. It’s nice to be up there in the table. We were aggressive and played well from the start today and I think it was my best individual performance. Now we have two games against Roma – they’re a good side, but we’ll do our best.”
