Giampaolo hails mature Samp reaction against Udinese

Following Sampdoria’s home win over Udinese, Marco Giampaolo was satisfied with what he views as an important win for his side.

Speaking to Samp TV after the victory, he said: “It wasn’t a given that we’d win this. Udinese are a good side and tough to read at times – it was a positive display from the team.

“It was the response I wanted after the defeat in Milan – a game in which I found many positives.”

As the race hots up for European places, the boss added: “Other teams are meant to finish in these positions, but that doesn’t give us an excuse not to fight for them ourselves.

“So that means putting pressure on Milan, Atalanta, Torino and Fiorentina. Sampdoria need to spring a surprise. We must believe we can achieve the extraordinary and our fans will be able to give us that extra impetus.”
