Strinic rested in Croatia’s 2-1 win over Iceland, will face Denmark in last 16

Three wins from three in the World Cup so far, and top of Group D with a maximum number of points for Ivan Strinic’s Croatia. Zlatko Dalic’s charges showed their superior class at the Rostov Arena, sweeping Iceland aside 2-1, thanks to goals from Badelj (53rd minute) and Perisic (90th minute). Sigurdsson’s 76th minute penalty was unable to influence the game’s outcome.

After playing every minute of the first two games against Nigeria and Argentina, Samp’s Ivan Strinic was rested for the clash with Iceland. Coach Dalic went with a host of changes for the final match, looking to rotate his squad and keep them fresh ahead of the last 16, which will see them face Denmark, second placed in Group C, on Sunday 1 July at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
