Italy and Ukraine draw in Genoa friendly

Italy and Ukraine played out a 1-1 draw in Wednesday evening’s friendly in Genoa, ahead of the Azzurri’s trip to Poland for their next Nations League match.

At the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, the match was an opportunity to remember the victims of the Ponte Morandi disaster in August. Roberto Mancini’s team took the lead on 55 minutes, through Federico Bernardeschi, but were pegged back by the visitors shortly after, as Ruslan Malinovskiy netted an equaliser.

Two Blucerchiati players who made the Italy squad were in attendance. Lorenzo Tonelli watched from the bench while Gianluca Caprari was in the stands. Also at the match were club president Massimo Ferrero, legal chief Antonio Romei and sporting director Carlo Osti.
