Giampaolo praises on Quagliarella and team: “Fabio’s a constant threat, well done everyone”

Inspired by a vintage Fabio Quagliarella performance, Sampdoria defeated SPAL on home turf this afternoon.

It’s the second win in a row for the Blucerchiati, following last weekend’s hard-fought win against Cagliari at the Ferraris.

“We deserved to win the game after dominating the first half and not running into many risks in the second,” declared a smiling Marco Giampaolo. “Aside from the goals, the three up front made the difference. It became a scrappy contest after half-time, but even amidst the confusion, we managed the game well.”

The win came about thanks to two goals scored by Quagliarella, but the coach reserved praise not only for the veteran striker but also the team as a whole.

“Quaglirella is motivated and in brilliant form: he scored two great goals and was a constant danger, just like his fellow attackers,” Quagliarella continued. “I liked Ronaldo Vieira’s performance, as well as [Riccardo] Saponara.”

“As for VAR, I haven’t watched the situations back, but we knew the decisions would take some time, they told us so. It doesn’t make any sense to create confusion when the referee is reviewing the footage. I’m happier now because they’re working to make things better and I’ve had some decisions go against us as well.”
