Linetty vows not to give up European fight
Sampdoria are still in the mix for the European spots and will keep chasing their dream right down to the wire, says Karol Linetty.
The Polish midfielder was speaking after the Blucerchiati sent out a message to their rivals with a thoroughly convincing 5-3 triumph at Sassuolo on Saturday afternoon.
“This is always a tough place to come but we scored five here today,” Linetty said after the game at Mapei Stadium.
“It was really important for us to get the three points after losing to Atalanta and we were fiercer and more aggressive today. We moved the ball around really well both in the first half and the second.”
The 24-year-old netted Samp’s third of the game and might well have bagged himself a brace – proving he’s far more than just a ‘water-carrier’.
“It’s nice to score. I could have had two today and I’m a bit angry that I didn’t but fortunately we got the fourth goal soon afterwards.
“We’re five points off the European spots at the moment and we must do everything we can to get back up there and keep fighting right till the end.”
