Giampaolo full of praise for team: “These lads give me energy”

Marco Giampaolo had many reasons to smile after watching his Sampdoria team beat AC Milan in a high-intensity and open affair played out in an electric atmosphere.

“This was a great and deserved victory,” the head coach commented, “against a top-level opponent. It’s a big win that keeps us attached to the group of teams dreaming of Europe and gives us a real confidence boost going into the final stretch of the season.”

There are nine fixtures left this campaign and the Blucerchiati will be back in action already on Wednesday in a head-to-head against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico.

“This season is extremely balanced,” Giampaolo concluded. “You win a game and you’re in the hunt for your objective, you lose the next one and it looks like you’re cut off, but there are still plenty of points up for grabs. We need to be consistent in our performances and results and make as few mistakes as possible. This is a great group: they energise me and I have full confidence in my lads.”
