Late De Rossi strike stuns Samp

A good performance wasn’t enough for Sampdoria against Roma in Marassi as Daniele De Rossi scored the solitary goal to claim the points for the visitors.

Marco Giampaolo’s men were the better side for much of the encounter but weren’t able to make the breakthrough. Then, 15 minutes from the end, the Roma skipper was in the right place at the right time to bundle home the loose ball after Emil Audero had parried Patrik Schick’s header.

Joachim Andersen thought he had equalised five minutes later but the goal was disallowed for a foul by the Dane on De Rossi in the build-up.

It’s a disappointing result for the Blucerchiati but they’ll have no problem getting themselves up for the next one: the Derby della Lanterna awaits next Sunday.
