Defrel targets positive end to the season: “I owe it to the club and the fans”

With his goal in the 3-3 draw against Parma, Grégoire Defrel scored his 10th goal of the Serie A season. Not since the 2016/17 campaign had the forward reached double figures in the league.
Speaking after the match he said: “I want to finish the season well – I owe it to the club and the fans. Let’s see what happens in future.

“Getting ten goals was my aim. I’ve settled in well here in Genoa. There’s time for all that – we’ve still got three games left and I’d like to round the season off with two home wins.”

Meanwhile commenting on his fellow striker Fabio Quagliarella, who has reached 25 goals for the season, the Frenchman said: “It’s good that he got the brace. We’re trying to help him be top scorer.

“We needed a result today after two defeats. It’s a shame we didn’t manage to win, having led by two goals. It wasn’t easy, though. We managed the game in the first half after that rapid start, but lacked a bit of focus in the second period.”
