Bonazzoli: “Scoring in Serie A is a dream, I want more for this club”
They say you never forget your first top-flight goal. And that much is certainly true for Federico Bonazzoli, who bagged his first goal in Serie A for Sampdoria against Fiorentina on Wednesday night – though the Italian was disappointed not to cap the night with a point for his team.
“Every kid dreams of scoring a goal in Serie A,” said Bonazzoli after the game. “I’d be waiting for it for a long time and I’m pleased for myself, but it’s bittersweet because we’ve lost the game. I hope it’s the first of many for Samp, who showed faith in my five years ago.”
Next up for Doria is a home match against Inter – the club where Bonazzoli grew up as a player.
“I hope to do my bit when the coach calls on me,” said the Italian. “I have some top players ahead of me. Quagliarella is an idol and I try to learn from him every day: he gives me advice and we talk often. You can only learn from players like him.
“Inter will be a special match for me. I was there for 12 years, but now it’s about getting my head down and working hard. We can only get through this by working hard, taking it game by game and listening to the coach.”
