Verona build-up: Thigh injury for Linetty, morning session on Thursday

Eusebio Di Francesco’s Sampdoria squad continued their preparations for Saturday’s trip to the Bentegodi to take on Hellas Verona at the Centro Sportivo Gloriano Mugnaini on Wednesday.

After a warm-up, the squad worked through technique drills, tactics exercises and practice games, with youngsters Marco Pompetti, Matteo Raspa and Kaique Rocha joining in and sporting director Carlo Osti watching on.

Karol Linetty reported a muscular problem in his right leg yesterday and underwent tests today which confirmed an injury to the adductor longus muscle in his right thigh. Linetty has already begun treatment and physiotherapy work as part of his recovery programme.

Omar Colley and Morten Thorsby worked out in the gym as a precaution, while Alex Ferrari and Gonzalo Maroni continued to train with the group. Manolo Gabbiadini returned to group training for the first time as part of the practice games at the end, while Andrea Seculin was fit enough to work with the rest of the goalkeeping group.

Samp will train again on Thursday morning.
