23-man squad named for Udinese game

The bad weather sweeping across Liguria meant the team were unable to train as planned on Saturday. With Bogliasco beset by heavy rain and strong gusts of wind, Claudio Ranieri and the coaching staff took the precaution of running a shorter morning session of 40 minutes, involving a warm-up followed by technical and tactical drills.

All the players present took part except Edgar Barreto (muscle strain) and Federico Bonazzoli, who is continuing his recovery from the muscle injury sustained against Atalanta.

Bartosz Bereszynski is in Poznan, as arranged with the Poland national team, where he recently underwent surgery on the lateral meniscus of his right knee. He will be joined next week by some of Sampdoria’s medical staff.

After some individual injury prevention work in the gym, the coach gave the team the afternoon off. They will report back to the training ground this evening.

A final training session may be held on Sunday morning, weather permitting.

These are the 23 players in the matchday squad for Sunday’s 18:00 CET kick-off at the Stadio Ferraris:

Goalkeepers: Audero, Avogadri, Seculin.

Defenders: Augello, Chabot, Colley, Depaoli, Ferrari, Murillo, Murru, Regini.

Midfielders: Bertolacci, Ekdal, Jankto, Leris, Linetty, Thorsby, Vieira.

Forwards: Caprari, Gabbiadini, Maroni, Quagliarella, Ramirez, Rigoni.
