Ramirez, Leris and Bonazzoli secure friendly win over Derthona

Sampdoria recorded their first pre-season success away to Serie D side Derthona on Sunday evening. Claudio Ranieri’s troops notched a 3-0 victory in front of president Massimo Ferrero at the Coppi in Tortona.

The international break forced the boss into all sorts of changes, but he did stick with a 4-4-2 formation. The first half ended goalless, which triggered a double half-time substitution in a bid to get some attacking momentum going in the second period. Having come on at the break, Gaston Ramirez was on hand to head Samp into the lead from a Valerio Verre cross in the 64th minute. Mehdi Leris popped up to double the advantage in the 70th minute with an angled shot from the edge of the box before Federico Bonazzoli added some gloss to the scoreline from the penalty spot with three minutes left.
