The 20-year-old went on to receive a standing ovation from the raucous home crowd in the 72nd minute when coach Kasper Hjulmand withdrew him. Yussuf Poulsen, Andrea Christiansen and Joakim Maehle joined Damsgaard on the scoresheet, while Artem Dzyuba temporarily halved the arrears for Russia from the penalty spot in the 70th minute. Denmark will face Wales in the last 16 at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam at 18:00 CEST on Saturday 26 June.

Czech Republic. Jakub Jankto and the Czech Republic fell to a 1-0 defeat at Wembley on Tuesday evening in their final outing in Group D after Raheem Sterling netted for England in the 12th minute. Sweden and Poland. Albin Ekdal and Bartosz Bereszynski both played the full 90 minutes in the clash between their respective countries which saw Sweden clinch a dramatic 3-2 victory to finish top of Group E and send Poland home early. Emil Forsberg bagged a brace, but it was Viktor Claesson’s stoppage-time winner that put paid to Robert Lewandowski’s attempt to drag his team back into the game with a double.
