EURO 2020: Damsgaard wins Samp Euro-derby to reach the semis

Mikkel Damsgaard emerged victorious from the all-Sampdoria clash between himself and Jakub Jankto at EURO 2020 as Denmark defeated the Czech Republic 2-1 to book a semi-final spot at Wembley.

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand named our starlet in the starting line-up and the Danes took a 5th-minute lead through Thomas Delaney. Damsgaard then went close with a couple of efforts himself before Kasper Dolberg doubled their advantage with a fine volley shortly before the break.

Czech coach Jaroslav Silhavy brought Jankto off the bench at half time in an attempt to turn the game around and obtained an immediate return when former Doria man Patrik Schick pulled one back.

Damsgaard was subbed off on the hour mark as the Czech Republic kept pushing for an equaliser but to no avail.

A date at Wembley now awaits the Danes: on Wednesday they’ll face the winner of England v Ukraine at 21:00 CEST.
