Ciervo: “I have to repay the faith shown in me”

Sampdoria’s new number 11 is just 19 years old. Riccardo Ciervo, a fast and technically gifted winger, was born in Latina in the Lazio region in April 2002, and emerged from the Roma youth ranks as a talented youngster. “It’s a special feeling,” admitted Ciervo. “I’m very pleased to be at a big club such as Sampdoria. I knew for a while that the club was interested in me, but I was only sure that I’d be coming here on the last day of the transfer window. I have to repay the president and the club as a whole for the faith shown in me.

“I was part of the Roma first-team squad for a while, but I didn’t get a chance to make my debut. I hope to do so here in Genoa by doing my bit for the team. I came to Marassi last season. It’s a stadium that gives you the chills and that was without the fans, but I hope to see them all soon.”
