Candreva: “Happy for the goal, less so the result”

Goals like this deserve to be remembered forever. The rocket of a shot launched by Antonio Candreva was a real feast for the eyes, and it’s a shame that it wasn’t enough to win the game for Sampdoria. “I just tried my luck and it went in,” commented the number 87 after the game. “I’m happy with the goal, but less so the result. We know that every match in Serie A is a challenge, they should all be given their due care and attention. We didn’t get off to a good start, but we bucked up our ideas after the break. There’s a lingering feeling that we dropped points, though.

It’s the product of sheer hard work. With two goals, three assists, and a shot which led to an own goal, Candreva is having a dream start to the campaign, even if he himself is playing it down: “It’s nice to see what I’ve achieved on an individual level, but when it’s not enough to win you games then there’s a feeling of regret. We’ve got the international break now, we’re hoping to recharge our batteries and give time for injured players to recover. We’ll work hard so we hit the ground running after the break. With a little more due care and attention we can win these games.
