Djuricic’s goal not enough as Milan beat Samp

It was a game full of drama at the Ferraris on Saturday night and one in which the Blucerchiati showed great heart and determination. Unfortunately, however, their efforts weren’t enough to secure a much-needed victory as Milan took home all three points.

It was an unfortunate start for Marco Giampaolo’s side as the Rossoneri took the lead through Junior Messias early on. Things looked set to go from bad to worse as Charles De Ketelaere appeared to net another, but it was ruled out for offside after the VAR review, meaning the visitors went in with a one-goal lead at the break.

Not long after the whistle went to mark the start of the second half, Rafael Leao was awarded a second yellow for a dangerous overhead kick attempt. With Milan down to ten, Sampdoria sensed an opportunity. It didn’t take long for them to find the breakthrough, with Filip Djuricic heading home. However, the celebrations were short-lived after another VAR review saw the Rossoneri awarded a penalty for handball, which Olivier Giroud slotted calmly away. Despite the Blucerchiati’s valiant efforts, they couldn’t get those all-important points on the board.
