“Performance, points and proof of progress” on Giampaolo’s wishlist

It’s AC Milan tomorrow. The reverse fixture ended in defeat, so Sampdoria will be out for revenge in Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off. There are points on the line and the team are keen to build on their comeback victory over Roma. “Sunday’s win gave us back what we deserved,” said Marco Giampaolo in a press conference. “It restored a few points that we were missing and has sorted out our league position a touch. But we mustn’t make do with that. This must be a time to progress – we have to see the desire to pick up points.”

“I expect us to approach the game in the right way tomorrow,” continued the Blucerchiati coach. “That will allow us to say whether or not we’ve matured as a team. They’re good at keeping the ball and playing between the lines. They will cause us problems. They’ve lost Bonaventura [to injury] but they have lots of quality players like Suso and Deulofeu, who brings added ability.”
