Primavera: Off-colour Sampdoria beaten by second-half salvo from Bologna

Sampdoria Primavera slipped to a 2-0 defeat by Bologna at the Biavati on Saturday in their first game back after the international break.

The chances were shared in the first half, with Chrysostomou almost giving Samp the lead with an acrobatic effort on the 15-minute mark. Yayi Mpie then raced through on goal and rounded the keeper on 24 minutes, but the Belgian forward was thwarted by a raised offside flag from the linesman.

The home side took control of the game in the second half, however. Raspa in the Samp goal was called into action on 52 minutes to deny a fierce effort from Cangiano, before Juwara’s header was kept out only by the woodwork from the resulting corner. Yayi Mpie could have given Samp the lead shortly after, but it was Bologna who struck the first blow, Juwara unleashing a powerful effort that Raspa was powerless to prevent from ending up in the net.

Bologna doubled their lead five minutes later after another counter-attack, with substitute Baldursson the man finding the back of the net on his occasion. And there was more bad news to come for Samp as Prelec – on as a sub in the 66th minute – was forced off with an injury to his right ankle after just six minutes. Amado came on to replace him – but there was nothing to be done about the scoreline.
