Ranieri praises team effort in beating the drop

Claudio Ranieri was full of praise for his team after Sampdoria ended the 2019/20 campaign with a 1-1 draw at Brescia, played in torrid conditions.

“It was so hot out there today. Both sides gave every drop of sweat and both tried to win it, despite the difficulties. It made for an enjoyable game.”

Reflecting on the season as a whole, the boss went on: “I always believed we would beat the drop from the day I arrived but I didn’t think we’d manage it with four games to spare. The credit for that goes to everyone.”

Ranieri also commented on Fabio Quagliarella’s performance on his 200th appearance for the club.

“He really wanted to score today and he did find the net at the death but he was offside. He’s a constant threat for our opponents and someone the entire team looks up to.”
