Sampdoria get straight back to work in three groups in Bogliasco

Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria squad were straight back on the training ground on Sunday morning following Saturday night’s 1-0 win over Genoa in the Derby della Lanterna.

The squad was split into three groups, with the first composed of the players involved in all or most of the match last night: they worked through a programme of treatment, physiotherapy and massages, with Albin Ekdal and Fabio Quagliarella joining this group after coming off early against Genoa.

In the second group, the rest of the available players warmed up in the gym before focusing on a series of practice games with an onus on pressing. Finally, the third group featured those players working individually at present: Edgar Barreto, Bartosz Bereszynski and Andrea Bertolacci continued with their recovery plans, while Federico Bonazzoli and Jakub Jankto had a fitness and technique session outside.

Doria will train again on Monday morning ahead of the visit of Juventus to Marassi on Wednesday evening (18:55 CET kick-off). Claudio Ranieri will hold his pre-match press conference after the session. The team will stay together from Monday night until the game.
