Sampdoria throw it away as Benevento complete Marassi comeback

Sampdoria ended up empty-handed after surrendering a two-goal lead as their home opener against Benevento ended in a 3-2 defeat.

The Blucerchiarti made a blistering start to the encounter with Fabio Quagliarella opening the scoring before Omar Colley made it 2-0 inside the first 20 minutes. However, Luca Caldirola pulled one back before the break and levelled the scores after the restart. Gaetano Letizia then struck the cruellest of blows for Doria when he drilled home the winner with two minutes left on the clock.
