Thorsby: “Pleased with the goal but we must do better”

Morten Thorsby will have bittersweet memories of Sampdoria’s 2-1 defeat to Inter at San Siro on Sunday night, as his first goal for the Blucerchiati was not enough to prevent his team from going home empty handed.

“I’m really pleased with the goal,” said the Norwegian after the game. “It was a bit lucky, though – I was in the right place at the right time.”

As well as his goal, Thorsby produced a typically industrious performance in the heart of the Sampdoria midfield. And the Norwegian was left ruing a sub-par first-half showing from Doria that left the visitors 2-0 down come the break.

“We started well after the restart, but we showed too much fear in the first half,” said the Samp No.18. “We knew it was going to be difficult against Inter because they’re a good team, but we’re better than that. We showed a good reaction, but we need to do better in our next few games. More energy, less fear.”
