Samp defeated by Handanovic, Inter steamrolls us playing 11 against 10

When
the rival goalkeeper is named “man of the match”, when he saves a
penalty and he acts as protagonist in at least four occasions saving the
result, you have little to say. If you add the fact that since the
minute 21st of the first half you have been playing 10 against 11,
you’ve got the full recipe of a black afternoon. That’s exactly what
happened at the “Ferraris” stadium to Sampdoria, defeated with a
categorical but also undeserved 4-0 by Inter. The nerazzurri were not
nearly irresistible, but they were cruel in confirming the unmerciful
“law of the big teams”: Samp in fact has never been able to defeat a
“big” in this championship.

Miracles. In an atmosphere conditioned by the querelle Icardi-Maxi López, the former blucerchiato promptly finds the first goal and the way to draw attention to himself in a shameful manner, by provoking the Gradinata Sud. After suffering the goal Samp quickly reacts: the blucerchiati earn a penalty but Handanovic denies Maxi the joy of the 1-1 and gives proof of his abilities with a series of miraculous saves on Samp’s persistent attacks. In the second half, without Eder Citadin Martins (expelled after picking up two yellow cards in few seconds), Daniele Gastaldello & co. inevitably capitulate and Samuel, Icardi once again, and Palacio punish them. The only final bright spot is the debut in Serie A of Mattia Lombardo, son of the unforgettable Attilio.

I want to congratulate to him: Inter won mainly thanks to his performance. In the first half we played well but with no result; they had one shot and they scored». These are the words of Nenad Sakic, who substituted the expelled Sinisa Mihajlovic, angry in particular for what happened with the penalty. «I normally take the penalties – says Eder referring to that episode -, but Maxi asked me to let it to him. He missed it and I’m really sorry for it. I should have taken it because maybe if we had drawn, the match would have been different».
