Samp defeats Chievo but weeps over the passing of the great Boskov

These
are the best victories. Coming from behind, playing ten against eleven
and at the death. After three consecutive defeats Sampdoria can smile
again thanks to a home win over ChievoVerona: 2-1 is the final result of
a match characterized by guests’ barricades and numerous losses of
time. A deserved 2-1 that brings the blucerchiati at quota 44 points in
the ranking.

Overtaking. Samp dominates the game but the first half ends with a 0-0 draw. Then, Chievo takes advantage of its only real offensive action earning a penalty and the consequent expulsion of Shkodran Mustafi: Théréau beats Vincenzo Fiorillo, once again titular, and gives his team the lead. Despite playing 10 against 11, the blucerchiati don’t give up and fifteen minutes later Eder Citadin Martins levels the result after an assist by Vasco Regini and scores his 10th goal of the season. But it’s not over yet: in stoppage time in fact, Roberto Soriano takes advantage of an error by Hetemaj and makes it 2-1.

Vuja. The happy atmosphere is ruined on Sunday evening by the sad news of Vujadin Boskov’s passing. He was the mister of the Great Samp that won the Scudetto, he coached the blucerchiati for 316 matches and he is an authentic myth for the whole Italian football world. «I’m truly pained». It is Mihajlovic first comment at the sad news. «He was like a father to me – said Sinisa -. He was a teacher, an example, both in football and in life. I will certainly never forget him: together we had so many experiences I will take with me forever. He will remain a unique person, inimitable, a legend of Serbian football and a hero for every Sampdoriano. I will go to Serbia to pay my respects:  great men of sport and of life deserve it and that’s exactly what Boskov was».
