Samp come from behind: Muriel, Schick and an own goal see off Bologna
Three goals in the space of five minutes were enough to secure revenge for Sampdoria’s defeat to Bologna in the side’s earlier meeting this season. The Blucerchiati were never overawed, showing resilience and patience before turning the match in their favour late on to make it three wins in a row.
Muriel missed when through on goal early on, before Donsah struck the post on 11 minutes for the visitors, after the ball pinballed around the box. Donadoni brought on Mbaye after Maietta injured himself fouling Muriel, while Gastaldello pulled out in the warm-up. Da Costa then denied Fernandes, before Dzemaili broke the deadlock with a ferocious drive.
Quagliarella was unable to feed off the service of Polish duo Bereszkynski and Linetty on the half-hour mark and Praet and Linetty also missed the target with first-half efforts. Donadoni was forced into another change, bringing on Sadiq for the struggling Destro. Giampaolo made a double switch for the second period, meantime, introducing Dodo and Djuricic for Regini and Linetty respectively. Schick was then thrown on in place of Bruno Fernandes on the hour.
The Rossoblu might have doubled their lead but Verdi’s free-kick rattled the crossbar. Then Sampdoria turned on the style, after Mr Fabbri awarded them a penalty with Pulgar appearing to handle. Muriel made no mistake from 12 yards. Doria had the momentum and Schick gave them the lead shortly after with a cool finish. The Czech then made sure of the points after his dangerous low cross was put through his own net by Mbaye in front of the Gradinata Nord. Three on the bounce.
