Samp strike late to rescue point against Lecce

Sampdoria picked up what could prove to be a potentially crucial point against fellow strugglers Lecce, thanks to a stoppage-time equaliser by Gaston Ramirez at the Marassi.

Fabio Liverani’s side took the lead through Gianluca Lapadula in the 8th minute with their first attack of the game when the forward exchanged passes with Yevhen Shakhov before coolly slotting past Emil Audero.

The hosts responded well and created plenty of goalscoring chances, but composure in front of goal appeared to be in short supply.

Claudio Ranieri decided to make what would ultimately prove to be an inspired half-time substitution, sending on Gaston Ramirez for Edgar Barreto as the Blucerchiati tried to turn things around.
The odds were swung in our favour in the 72nd minute when Panagiotis Tatchsidis was shown a second yellow card, leaving the Giallorossi with ten men.

With the support of the Ferraris faithful, Doria kept plugging away and were eventually rewarded for their efforts in stoppage time when the Uruguayan popped up to equalise from an Emiliano Rigoni corner and secure a huge point for the team, although the target, of course, was to clinch all three.

Sampdoria remain bottom of the Serie A table, but there are certainly plenty of positives to take into the upcoming clash on Monday against SPAL, who also currently find themselves in the relegation zone.
